About the Book

About the Book: DEI Delusion: The Hidden Impact of Research in BIPOC Communities is an essential read for researchers, policymakers, and advocates dedicated to advancing equitable and inclusive health research. This book provides a comprehensive analysis of systemic inequities in research, the dangers of DEI rollbacks, and the critical need for honesty, transparency, patient governance, accountability, and cultural competency in scientific studies. It also delves into the economic impact of dismantling DEI initiatives, demonstrating how these shifts influence funding, healthcare outcomes, and research sustainability.

What You'll Learn:
  • The historical and political determinants of health that shape research access for BIPOC communities.

  • Practical strategies for ethical recruitment, engagement, and retention of BIPOC participants in research.

  • How to build long-term trust, transparency, and collaboration with marginalized communities.

  • Insights into the impact of policy shifts, including NIH funding cuts and DEI rollbacks, on research equity.

  • The role of AI in research and its limitations in addressing systemic racism without human oversight.

  • The economic consequences of DEI rollbacks on healthcare, funding, and innovation.

DEI Delusion also critically examines the impact of NIH funding cuts on research equity, highlighting how both the Trump and Biden administrations have influenced DEI policies in healthcare and scientific research. Adinig underscores that recklessly dismantling DEI initiatives threatens to widen existing disparities, making this book essential for anyone wanting to join the fight for equitable research practices that serve all communities, not just the privileged few.
